Reducing Transition Times by Two Months Without Onsite SMEs

Strategic Sourcing, Unified Communications
Participating Company:
ACS, a Xerox company

Even with the reduced timeframe and an unexpected reduction in client support at a critical point in the transition, we met the deadline and successfully closed year end.

The Challenge

A major automobile manufacturer was moving a significant amount of its Finance and Accounting (F&A) functions to ACS, in what was planned as a 10-month transition. But, when a failing economy put financial pressure on the company to reduce costs more quickly, that timeframe was cut to just eight months—making the first production job year-end close.

To compound the challenge, just five weeks prior to the transition deadline, this client began offering voluntary retirement to many of its employees in an effort to reduce the workforce by 25 percent. If the

employees signed up by a certain date, they no longer had to come into the office.

That meant ACS had to accelerate the final phase of training to ensure a smooth transition, and do it without the help of onsite subject matter experts (SMEs).
