One of the most popular solutions is to use replication to enable disaster recovery. Users face the problem of getting data offsite; in the past people generally backed up to tape and took it offsite only at the end of the day or week. Data replication now enables users to keep a real-time copy of data offsite, which can happen in real-time through asynchronous replication across a wide area network to a recovery site or even to a cloud storage repository.
